A dental implant is made up of two parts. There is a part placed below the gum, and a part which is visible above the gum.

The part of above the gum is known as the implant crown and this is what will look and feel like a normal tooth, it is made of a toughened porcelain.
How long does the dental implant procedure take?
- In most cases the process usually takes 3 months. At the beginning the implant below the gum is placed, this is allowed to integrate for 3 months, after this the implant crown is attached to it.
- It is important to remember that the timing can vary, sometimes it can take longer if the area needs to be strengthened first or if more healing time is needed. This will always be discussed prior to starting treatment.
Can anyone get dental implants?
